The work is aimed at people doing useful things more than at conventional clients:
- Activist and campaigning groups

- Voluntary organisations
- Independent projects
- Artists, writers and researchers
- Small organisations without technical staff
- People with worthwhile ideas who need technical help making them happen
Interesting or useful work matters more than whether somebody looks like a conventional commercial client.
How it works
There is no single commercial model.
Sometimes there is a budget. Sometimes there isn't. Sometimes something simply seems worth doing.
Work may be

- —Pro bono
- —Done for expenses
- —Supported through donations
Where appropriate, work is offered on the principle of dāna: something is given freely, and the recipient contributes what they feel able or appropriate to give in return.
Donations can also support work for groups that could not otherwise afford technical help.
Why SHITE exists
A lot of useful organisations need relatively straightforward technical help but are badly served by expensive agencies, consultants, complicated platforms and endless subscriptions. SHITE exists to help make useful things, solve actual problems and keep technology understandable.
